Duane Michals is a American photographer who was born in February 1932. He is largely self- taught himself. He often incorporates text into his work to examine emotion and philosophy.

The images which i have chosen of Duane Michals, i personally think are really interesting. The first image is a young boy who looks like he is visiting his grandfather, and his grandfather isn't moving. In the first image of the sequence the old man is lying still and the little boy is watching over him, in the second image the old man has sat up and starting to get out of bed and also the old man has wings on his back, this is trying to pursue the old man has turned into an angel. In the next image of the sequence is of the old man waving to the little boy and then he is climbing out of the window. The final image of the sequence is the little boy looking out of the window and the old man is not in the scene. This is trying to pursue the old man has died and gone to heaven as an angel.

The second image that i have chosen is a six sequence image. The story behind this image is a little girl is sitting next to a window and a coat stand whilst she is sitting on a rocking chair. Throughout the sequences the coat stand changes into an actual person but it still looks like a coat stand. I really like this sequence because i like the way each part changes.

These are a few images that are from my stop motion video. They are unedited, once they are edited they will fit in with the 'vintage' and 'olden day' theme.                                                        

My Idea.

My chosen idea for my stop motion video is, i will have two models male and female and at the start of my video the two models will be dressed in baggy clothes and look 'trampy' they will also have old trainers and boots which are coming apart, and they will be sitting in woods and then they will both gradually get up and start walking to the entrance of the 'different world' and the male modern will be walking in front of the female model and they will both disappear into the wilderness. Once they have gone into it they will appear through the window of the room. They will start walking towards a set up table and their faces are meant to look shocked, they will also be dressed in smart clothes like vintage looking and olden time looking. On the table there will be a big sheet which covers the table and there will be royal albert on the table like a tea party. Once they have sat down they will pour tea and light a candle which has gone out. The male model will start walking towards the female and he will get down on one knee and propose to her, after this it will end when the two models are hugging.

iMovie.

To create my stop motion video i am going to use iMovie. I took some shots of my idea and then i simply dragged them into iMovie. On each shot on iMovie i had to click onto the crop tool and change the 'Ken Burns' to 'Fit' because when it is on the 'Ken Burns' setting when you click play it doesn't stay in one position it moves, so when you click 'Fit' it fits to the screen and doesn't move.

I also changed the duration of each clip, because it was set on 4 seconds and that was too long, so i changed it to 0.4 seconds and that has made it go faster, i pressed 'applies to all photos' so i wouldn't have to keep changing each image because that would take too long.

Another thing that i did on iMovie is changed the effect of each clip, i kept the brightness at 0% and changed the contrast to 25% and the saturation to 32%. I have done this because i am aiming for the 'olden day' look, and i am trying out different effects which fits in with my theme.

Stop Motion. Lost Things

This is my favorite stop motion video that i have seen because i really like the vintage type look to it and the way that it has its own style to the video. I also like the way at the start where the woman is simply sitting in and old style chair and the way which she moves from scene to scene for example the way she goes down into the black hole, but its just a sheet. I like how the model is dressed and the colour of her hair and the way it fits in with the theme. She is dressed in old style clothes but they work well with the theme and style of the video.

Stop Motion. Her Morning Elegance / Oren Lavie

This is another interesting stop motion video that i have found. It is about a woman being alone whilst in bed and dreaming. I think it is effective how it looks like the woman is walking in her sleep, and on her bed. I also like the part where it looks like there is wind and she is holding onto her bed.

I also like the background where it looks like wooden floor and the props which are used, also the way that the sheets change, i think that is a good effective look.

Stop Motion. Monogrenade - Ce soir

I really like the style of this video like the abandoned house with old look of the furnature and how the wallpaper looks kind of vintage. I also like the way that the people in this video are shown with know body, just them walking through the old house in olden day looking clothes. When the band comes in at the end, i think that is a good effect because they come in as human beings not just in clothes.
